Overview

Moves the State Broadband Office from the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) to the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA).

History

ACA is responsible for expanding broadband access in the state of Arizona. ACA is responsible for programs and initiatives such as the Statewide Middle-Mile Program, the Broadband Development Grant Program and the Digital Equity Program. Arizona's Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment Program is a large broadband investment with the principal objective of universal broadband for the state of Arizona (ACA).

The State Broadband Office is tasked with coordinating broadband initiatives across local, state and federal levels, including managing grant applications, supporting stakeholders with regulatory processes and advising on broadband policy. The State Broadband Office is also responsible for developing strategies to enhance statewide internet connectivity and resilience, maintaining a comprehensive state broadband plan, and may create rules and guidelines to implement its functions (A.R.S § 41-1511).
